Sunshine Mission FAQ

General Information

The Tampa Bay area is located on the beautiful gulf coast of Florida. We have some amazing beaches & top rated State Parks. We are 45 minutes from Walt Disney World,
55 minutes from Universal Studios & only about 15 minutes from Busch Gardens. There are many activities to choose from during free-time Friday. Get your toes in the sand!

Our church campus is conveniently located off I-4 exit 10, near the I-75 junction. We are located on the corner of US Hwy 92 and County Rd 579. Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Wendy's, Subway, and Hardee’s are all within 2 minutes of our campus. Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Checkers are all within 5 minutes of our campus.

Our campus facilities include the Wilson Student Center (WSC) which opened in March of 2016. The WSC will serve as the hub for all of the Sunshine Mission Week activities. Meals will be served in the church cafeteria & shower facilities are located in the SCA gym locker rooms located right beside the WSC. Chapel services will be held in the WSC main sanctuary.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the weather in June?

Florida weather is very unpredictable. Temps will be hot & reach into the 90’s, sunscreen is a must. Summer rains can be frequent but are normally short in duration. There is high humidity so it’s important to stay hydrated. Unfortunately bad weather may affect
some mission projects or work sites.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Sleeping areas will be large classrooms & we will provide twin air mattresses. Each student needs to bring sheets/blanket/pillow or sleeping bag. No one is permitted to be in the sleeping areas of the opposite sex, this includes adults.

What kind of projects will we be doing?

Specific projects are yet to be determined, but may include, light construction, remodeling, refurbishing, property clean-up, painting, fencing, and such. We often serve low-income families, Veterans, handicapped or disabled families, individuals, or children homes. We may serve with ministry partners in community service projects, VBS type outreach, and Bible Blitz type activities. Our goal is to show and to share the love of Jesus Christ with those we serve. Please plan on being flexible on project assignments, as we pray for God to lead us to those where we can have the most impact.

Tell me about chapel services.

Chapel services are an exciting part of our week. We want to encourage/excite/engage you in your walk with Christ. Expect great singing, inspiring messages, and a lot of fun! Dress for chapel is casual; shorts & t-shirts are ok.
