New York City Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief - Youth Missions 2013

Posted by Johnny Saunders on

An experience we will never forget. Hurricane Sandy did millions of dollars in damage in the New York and New Jersey areas. We housed with Greater New Beginnings Ministry and Pastor Jamie in the Williams area of Brooklyn. We partnered with TE to make the trip but also did ministry work with Pastor Jamie throughout the week. One of our biggest projects of the week was working at the Jewish Center of Brighton Beach which had sustained tremendous damage from the storm and consequent flooding.

What a blessing to help this community rebuild after such a tragedy.

We also were able to do street ministry with Pastor Jamie, feeding immigrant ladies and sharing Jesus with them with street preaching and singing. Our students shined the light of Christ in many Jewish areas of Brooklyn. Some areas we were received kindly others not so much, but to God be the glory our students shared the truth in love.

With the back drop of the bright lights and big city our students out-shined it all. Pastor Jamie shared his heart for his city and our students were deeply moved & touched. We thank God for a wonderful trip that had such an impact not only on those we served but our group as well. A special thanks to those who donated and sponsored us to reach out to those hurting in New York City.
